I knew I was going to like this book when I read the first chapter. The authors immediately start with the basics necessary for creating and managing real, viable schedule plans. As the chapters unfold, each aspect of working with Project is explained in a level of detail that is as useful for new users as it is for "seasoned" users who have worked with Project for many years.

Microsoft Project has many features and unfortunately it will allow users to do things that are not recommended except for very unique types of schedule plans. This book pulls from the combined learning experience of the authors to sort out the "recommended approach" from the whole array of Project features. That makes it much easier for the user to develop a good schedule plan at the onset and maintain it through project completion.

If I were to say the book has a downside I would pick on the title. It sounds like it was written expressly for Microsoft's latest version of Project, 2007. However, I would say that at least 80% of the content in this book is applicable to versions of Project going back to Project 2000. That makes it invaluable for users who may not have upgraded to Project 2007. Nonetheless, many new feature were added to Project 2007 and those are clearly expalined throughout the book.

It is a long read - well over 800 pages but the chapters, or learning modules as they are called, make it easy to find a particular topic. I highly recommend it to all users of Project.
